PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - On Tuesday morning, police found an unresponsive infant in a Punta Gorda home.

Around 9 a.m., Punta Gorda police and fire personnel responded to a 911 call about the baby in the 700 block of Narranja Street at the Gulf Breeze Apartment Homes. Police said the baby was 2 months old, and a neighbor said it was a baby boy.

Charlotte County EMS took the infant to Bayfront Health Punta Gorda, where the infant was pronounced dead, according to the Punta Gorda Police Department.

Autopsy results showed no sign of physical abuse but a cause of death has not yet been determined. It could take several weeks for authorities to determine one.
