FORT MYERS, Fla. - A Fort Myers police officer was involved in a crash late Tuesday night.

The officer approached the intersection of U.S. 41 and Carrell Road, when another driver attempted to turn left, hitting the officer's car, according to Fort Myers police. There was heavy damage to both cars.


The police officer and the other driver were hurt and taken to Lee Memorial Hospital, but are expected to be okay.

The intersection was shut down while officers and Lee County deputies investigated.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit found the Fort Myers police officer to not be at fault.
