After several days of relatively wet and cloudy weather, rain chances drop in a big way today.

Aside from a few isolated storms, which will primarily be inland this afternoon, plan on a generally sunny day without much rain.

This also means we turn up the heat, which will be the big story heading into the weekend.

Highs today will reach the lower 90s for most of Southwest Florida, but humidity will be stifling, sending our "feels-like" temperatures near triple digits this afternoon.

Temperatures this weekend will soar as high as the mid to upper 90s, pushing heat index values above 100 degrees.

Rain chances will also stay pretty slim this weekend, so there won't be much rain to cool us off.

Next week, we'll see more afternoon storms around, especially by the middle of the week as highs level off closer to the lower 90s.
